FOEHN x Malo Lacroix

Ethereal compositions with sharp rhythms subtly blend acoustic instruments and electronic sounds, revealing the sound of a modern, singular trio.

Melodic and cinematic, FOEHN’s music invites the audience into its evocative imaginary world from the very first notes, oscillating between acoustics and amplification, intimacy and power.

Rewarded from its first participations in professional springboards (1st prize Cosmo Jazz / SACEM 2015, 1st prize Un Doua de Jazz 2016, finalistFestival Jazz en Baie 2016), the project was soon recognized and solicited to open for international musicians: Soweto Kinch (UK), Malia (Malawi/UK), Edwin Sanz (Cuba)…) and recorded its 1st album, “Magnésie“, under the Mad Chaman label in 2018.

The group then made a real shift towards contemporary amplified music, adding electronic sounds to their music, and released “Highlines“, their second album, in March 2020.The album reached over 2 million streams and enabled the trio to play on bigger stages such as the big stage at Jazz à Juan 2021, Studio 104 in Maison de la Radio, Cosmo Jazz, Jazz à Sète, Estivales de Chambery, Millau en Jazz, Nancy Jazz Pulsation and Jazz à Colmar.

With “Same Horizon“, the first single from his third opus, “Elements“, FOEHN definitively plays with labels, pushing back the boundaries between electronic sounds and acoustic music. His aim is to share his emotions and his vision of a changing world with a wide audience, while maintaining the highest standards of composition.

Foehn takes its name from an ancestral wind that blows from the Sahara to the Alps. Like this wind, the band takes listeners on a musical journey filled with emotion and complicity.
