Essor et Chute (de notre civilisation)
19:00 | Tickets
After 9 years with his trio (Romain Baret Trio) and still an active composer in the duo Ginger, Romain is setting up a new project in 2021, Essor et Chute, despite the vagaries of the health crisis. This new group is inspired by the IACG’s reports on the ecological crisis we’re going through and the end of capitalism.
As part of the support program of the Regional Center for Jazz in the Bourgogne-Franche- Comté region in 2023, Romain Baret, accompanied by Fanny Ménégoz, Michel Molines, Elvire Jouve and Eric Prost, has composed a soundtrack for a fictional film about the rise and fall of our civilization, transgressing genres by blending modern jazz and rock.
Coming from progressive music (King Crimson, Pink Floyd…), Romain Baret’s influences come mainly from jazz, both in terms of improvisation and the color of his compositions. Baret’s rhythmic research is strongly influenced by drummers on the current jazz scene, Ari Hoenig and Dan Weiss, and by composers such as Marc Ducret, Stéphane Huchard, Laurent Dehors and Tigran Hamasyan.
